1. Ranking Among the World’s Leading Sustainable Steelmakers
China Steel Corporation (CSC, 2002) has been named a "2026 Steel Sustainability Champion" by the World Steel Association (worldsteel) for the third time. Widely regarded as the highest echelon of sustainability assessment in the global steel industry, this prestigious honor requires member companies to pass three stringent criteria: implementing and signing the 9 principles and 20 criteria of the Sustainability Charter (Commitment and Action), submitting full life-cycle inventory data for steel production (Measurement), and being shortlisted for the worldsteel Steelie Awards or winning the Safety and Health Excellence Recognition (Excellence). Having previously won in 2019 and 2024, CSC’s third-time victory places it alongside global steel giants such as ArcelorMittal and HYUNDAI Steel, underscoring its exceptional performance in climate action, ESG governance, and information transparency.
2. Carbon Reduction Achievements and Digital Transformation: Exceeding Short-Term Goals and Implementing AI Digital Twins
In response to the daunting challenge of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, CSC has delivered impressive results. Between 2018 and 2025, the company completed 1,459 carbon reduction initiatives, slashing annual emissions by 1.587 million metric tons—a 7.18% reduction compared to 2018 levels, which successfully surpassed its short-term goal of a 7% reduction. Concurrently, to embrace the rising wave of AI, CSC has accelerated its digital transformation by incorporating cutting-edge technologies like IoT, Big Data, and AI across its operations, production, and equipment sectors. Notably, CSC introduced "Digital Twin" technology to build virtual measurement models for blast furnace burden distribution and basic oxygen furnace tapping processes. This technological innovation also earned CSC a shortlist nomination for the worldsteel Steelie Awards.
3. Value Co-Creation Across the Industry Chain: Leading the Upgrade of Downstream Supply Chains
CSC is committed to extending its sustainability influence beyond its own operations to the entire upstream and downstream supply chains through a spirit of "value co-creation." For instance, CSC has successfully developed a 0.10mm ultra-thin electrical steel sheet, paired with its proprietary self-bonding coating technology, and is actively connecting with domestic power system manufacturers in the motor and gear reducer industries. Looking ahead, CSC will continue to drive its dual transformation in digitalization and low-carbon production. By expanding its vision to reshape the value chain of the industry, CSC aims to lead downstream supply chains toward a green transition, contributing significantly to Taiwan's sustainable industrial development.
