Under the theme "Tech Capital, Happy Hsinchu: AI-Led, Sustainable Homeland," the Hsinchu County Government made a grand appearance at the "2026 Smart City & Net-Zero City Expo." Showcasing brilliant cross-departmental achievements in smart governance and net-zero transformation, the county successfully secured this year's Innovative Application Award.

🏆 AI-Powered Traffic: Precision Improvements for High-Risk Intersections
The centerpiece of the exhibition was the "Traffic Improvement Decision Support System," independently developed by the Hsinchu County Transportation Department. Key benefits include:

Digitalized Collision Mapping: Utilizing AI for deep analysis of accident data to accurately identify high-risk intersections, facilitating targeted engineering improvements.

Smart Signal Control: Implementing AI-driven dynamic signal control technology, which has successfully reduced peak commute times from Hsinchu County to the Hsinchu Science Park by 18% to 21%.

Due to its outstanding practical efficacy, this system was honored with the "2026 Smart City Innovative Application Award" hosted by the Taipei Computer Association (TCA).

🌐 Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Building a Comprehensive Tech Safety Net
Beyond transportation, Hsinchu County demonstrated several innovative applications integrating AI into citizens' daily lives:

Public Safety & Disaster Prevention: The Fire Bureau pioneered a Drone Volunteer Firefighter Team and AI modeling technology, reducing disaster situational awareness time by 60%.

Environmental Monitoring: The Environmental Protection Bureau established an AIoT Air Quality Sensing Network, shifting from passive monitoring to proactive early warning through a proprietary regional standard deviation algorithm.

Smart Health & Citizen Services: The Public Health Bureau integrated Big Data to launch vaccine maps and smart ECG screening, while the Education Bureau promoted the School+ App to optimize communication between parents, teachers, and students.

The Hsinchu County Government announced that it will continue to roll out new applications this year, including the "Smart Guardian Eye," "Smart Sandbox Innovation Program," and "AI Citizen Butler." These initiatives will proactively push social welfare information and strengthen public safety, moving steadily toward a happy city defined by both technology and sustainable resilience.
