☀️ Green Rooftops Upgraded: Applications for Two Major Subsidy Programs Open Today
To accelerate the vision of becoming a 2050 Net-Zero City, the New Taipei City Economic Development Department announced today (the 9th) the launch of its 2026 Green Energy Subsidy Programs. This year’s budget and subsidy ceilings have been increased, targeting two key areas: "Residential Rooftop Solar" and "Smart Microgrids." The goal is to encourage enterprises and citizens to transform idle rooftops into green assets while bolstering energy autonomy and resilience.
💰 Subsidy Highlights at a Glance
1. Rooftop Solar Acceleration Program (Open to Citizens & Enterprises)
Target: Private buildings within New Taipei City with approved equipment registration or filing.
Highlight: Subsidy increased to NT$6,000 per kW.
Maximum: NT$600,000 per case.
Deadline: Now through November 30, 2026.
2. Smart Microgrid Demonstration Program (Ideal for Factories & Commercial Buildings)
Target: Integrated sites featuring "Solar PV + Energy Storage + Energy Management Systems (EMS)."
Ratio: Up to 49% of total installation costs.
Maximum: NT$150,000 per case.
Deadline: Now through June 30, 2026.
🏭 Corporate Case Study: The "Solar-Storage-Charging" Trend
The Department highlighted Foxconn and Horng Yu Electric as industry benchmarks. Foxconn’s "Green Cycle Building" integrates nearly 80kW of rooftop solar, an energy storage system, and 14 EV charging stations, creating a smart "Solar-Storage-Charging" microgrid. By utilizing an EMS for peak shaving, the facility reduces contract capacity fees and ensures the operation of critical infrastructure during grid instability, with projected savings of millions in electricity costs over ten years.
