National Central University (NCU) has taken another significant step in promoting campus sustainable development! NCU recently held a signing ceremony with the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) to formally sign the "University Sustainable Development Initiative." This declaration announces the university's full commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its pledge to move toward the vision of Net-Zero Emissions by 2050. The signing ceremony was represented by the President of NCU and Ambassador Eugene Chien, Chairman of TAISE.

The core content of this initiative covers three major areas:

1.Implementing Campus Net-Zero: Committing to conducting a carbon inventory on campus and planning concrete carbon reduction pathways and climate change adaptation strategies.

2.Deepening Sustainable Education: Integrating the concepts of SDGs and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) into general education and professional courses to cultivate interdisciplinary talent equipped with sustainability literacy.

3.Broadening Social Impact: Disseminating sustainability knowledge to the community and industry through industry-academia collaboration and University Social Responsibility (USR) projects.

Ambassador Chien, Chairman of TAISE, stated in his address that universities are the cradle for future leaders. NCU's signing of this initiative not only demonstrates the academic institution's commitment to climate action but also injects powerful educational momentum into Taiwan's sustainable development. NCU also emphasized that it will continue to leverage its strengths in Earth Science and green energy research to become a strong pillar supporting Taiwan's green transition.
